Brand Safety: Prohibited Content Policy
Understand what advertising content is strictly not allowed on the Connect platform, including tobacco products, illegal drugs, weapon imagery, sexually explicit material, fake documents, and ads promoting violence or discrimination.
What content is strictly prohibited?
Connect strictly prohibits inappropriate messages related to nudity/pornography, obscene content, violence, escort services, "too good to be true" get-rich-quick schemes, and "easy money" materials. Additionally, the following are prohibited: abortion ads with violent language or gruesome imagery, "anti" and violence content that advocates against people or groups, products from endangered species, fake documents, gun or weapon imagery in creatives, fireworks and pyrotechnic devices, illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia, illegal hacking content, illegal products and services, sexually explicit content, solicitation of funds (unless for tax-exempt organizations), and smoking/tobacco products.
Are abortion-related ads allowed?
Abortion-related services may be allowed depending on the country, but no ads related to abortion that use violent language or gruesome imagery are permitted. Consult with your Account Manager for details specific to your region.
Can I run firearm safety or education campaigns?
Yes, firearm safety and firearm education campaigns are allowed. However, no gun or weapon imagery is allowed in the creatives. This is listed as sensitive content and will require additional review.
Are donation or fundraising ads allowed?
The solicitation of funds (donations) is not allowed unless they are for a tax-exempt organization. Charitable contributions and fundraising are listed as sensitive content categories that require additional review.
Is tobacco advertising allowed?
No. The promotion of smoking and tobacco products is strictly prohibited on the Connect platform.
What types of "anti" or violence content are prohibited?
The following are not allowed: ad text advocating against an organization, person, or group of people; ads and associated websites advocating against a protected group; ads or targeting strategies that discriminate, disadvantage, or encourage discriminatory activity against people based on personal attributes; attempts to revise history against the interests of a protected group; and the promotion of self-harm and violence against people or animals.
Are illegal drug ads allowed?
No. The promotion of illegal drugs, legal or synthetic highs, herbal drugs, chemicals and compounds with psychoactive effects, drug paraphernalia, or aids to pass drug tests (including marijuana outside of permitted cannabis advertising on programmatic channels) is not allowed.
What about ads linking to Scientology content?
Any ads that link to Scientology content must clearly indicate that the website is related to the Church of Scientology. For example, the ads should refer to "Scientology," "Ron Hubbard," or "Dianetics."
