How to Add Suppression to Your Audience

Adding a suppression file removes duplicates and suppresses your audience to avoid re-targeting.

Once you have your audience counts built within Connect, you then have the option to add a suppression file.

For example, here we have an audience of people in New Jersey who make a household income between $100,000-$149,999 and who are planning to purchase a vehicle. Now, let’s say we have an existing customer list that we want to use to suppress this total audience. Here’s how to do that:

1. Once you have your total audience, click Add Suppression Files at the top of the page.

2. The below box will appear. Upload your suppression list as a CSV file. Your CSV file must contain at least one of the following identifiers in column form. It does not require all:

  • Bridge ID
  • First Name, Last Name, Address, and Zip (in separate columns)
  • Email
  • Mobile Advertising ID
  • Email Hash
3. Add your file. Then click Upload.

4. Preview your document. If your CSV file has column headers, check the box that says Check t his box if your file has headers.

5. Mark the mapping you’re using on the left-hand side. In this case, since we’re using email,  you’ll see we’ve selected Email toward the bottom.

6. Click Save.

7. Lastly, once you hit save. Your total audience should decrease and you should see the file appear on the page under Suppression.
