Below is an example of how you would build an audience if you were a Republican campaign manager looking to target political donors in your area.
1. Begin by selecting your client, then click Create a Custom Audience.
2. Next, you’ll begin building your audience based on desired audience attributes. By toggling through the categories on the left sidebar, you’ll see different data selections. For example, the Geographics tab will allow you to refine by location while the Political tab lets you categorize your audience by congressional districts, donorship, social causes, and more.
Note: When selecting audience attributes, be sure to click Add. You will see your selects appear on the right side of the screen once added.
3. As you select audience attributes, below is how they will appear to the right of your screen. In this example, we are targeting influential or Republican donors in Ohio.
4. Once you are happy with your audience selection, click Get Audience. You will then be prompted to name your audience and provide a description (optional). Audience name and description should NOT include special characters or line breaks. Once you’ve named it, click Save.
5. Below is how your results will appear. You will see the total audience on the left-hand side, and then breakouts of your audience below according to age, gender, and income.
To the right of your results, you will once again be shown your audience selections. Above that, you have the option to add an existing client list by clicking Add Suppression File. This will remove duplicates and suppress your total audience list to ensure you are not re-targeting existing clients.
